On June 14th, at 14h30 the INNOCUP pitch competition took place at UBImedical’s auditorium. INNOCUP is a seed capital program that aims to support teams with entrepreneurial intentions, who want to settle at UBImedical | UBIExecutive, rewarding innovative projects. This seed capital is an integral part of the INNOUNITA – Innovation Capacity Building in UNITA project.Of the 20 teams, 16 made their pitch before the jury, composed by the Pro-Rector, Professor João Lanzinha, Dr. Gina Rocha representing IAPMEI, and the manager of UBImedical, Dr. Dina Pereira. The projects presented had a high degree of innovation and quality, and the jury awarded two teams – Indoor Data and DODO-PharmAssist.Indoor Data, represented by professors Bruno Silva and Bruno Travassos and student Luísa Gonçalves, presents a digital solution for decision support for team sports, making use of sensors and cameras, which through machine learning algorithms provide technical teams with the individual and collective behavior pattern of the teams.DODO-PharmAssist is an integrated platform for pharmaceutical assistance and monitoring of polymedicated patients, improving their adherence to therapy. The team is composed by Mário Forrester (entrepreneur in a digital health startup) and Francisco Coroa (medical student). These two teams will receive €5,000 and one year of free pre-incubation at UBImedical. The pre-incubation includes mentoring and coaching, advice, support in fundraising, connection with investors and facilitators, consulting on intellectual property and support in developing the business plan and a “go-to-market plan”.
