The Cozecare and DermVision teams have emerged as winners of Health Cup – Capital Semente 2026, an initiative promoted by UBImedical | UBIExecutive aimed at supporting innovative projects in the health and life sciences sectors.
The Cozecare team, made up of Manuel Padrão and Francisco Martins, presented an integrated mental health platform with continuous care connecting patients, professionals, and organisations, while DermVision, comprising Jacinta Coelho and Elsa Fonseca, presented a low-cost technological solution for capturing and analysing dermatological images, with the goal of supporting a more objective and consistent assessment of acne lesions. The NeuroDev project was also awarded an Honourable Mention by the jury. The three proposals stood out for their potential impact, innovation, and expansion potential within the health ecosystem.
This year’s edition saw the participation of 9 multidisciplinary teams, whose projects were presented in a pitch competition format before a specialist jury comprising Sílvia Socorro, Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation and Development and Director of UBImedical, Jhonny Ocampo, Founder, CEO and interim CIO of NomadEngenuity, and Wilson Bicalho, Lawyer and CEO of Next Border.
The pitch competition, which took place on 12 June in the UBImedical | UBIExecutive Auditorium, guarantees each winning team seed funding of €5,000 and one year of free pre-incubation at the UBImedical | UBIExecutive incubator, with access to the acceleration programme and Bootcamps developed under the IMPACTWHEEL project — a European initiative funded by the European Union through the EIT HEI Initiative, within a consortium of 10 entities led by UBImedical, with the aim of strengthening innovation and entrepreneurship capacities in higher education.
Projects were evaluated according to criteria such as team competence, communication skills, market potential, viability, impact, scalability, and degree of innovation.
The winning teams can count on the mentoring and acceleration support provided by the IMPACTWHEEL project and the UBImedical | UBIExecutive incubator to accelerate their projects.
